Wedge Tomb, Dusk, Hunting Time
“Wedge Tomb, Dusk, Hunting Time” gives a look at a Wedge Tomb. On it we see a schematic representation of what may have been a contemporary of the builders. It is almost dark. A Deer emerges from the forest. Is this going to be fatal for him? This is a work of art in dark colors about life and death, eating or being eaten.
Most wedge tombs are in Ireland; 505 in number. They also appear in Northern Ireland and Cornwall. Characteristic are the capstone and the cairn of smaller stones. The deeper you go in a wedge tomb, the narrower and lower it becomes. Wedge tombs lie often on mountain slopes, three-quarters from the hill to the top. Just like dolmens, standing stones and stone circles, they date from the Neolithic period.
Technique of Wedge Tomb, Dusk, Hunting Time
For this artwork I made a random base layer with watercolor. I then drew the contours of the dolmen with fineliner. Finally, I fantasized about a scene that I depicted schematically. The entire process was intuitive. Water color and fineliner pens on paper, 18 x 25 centimeters.
