Cornwall has an enormous wealth of neolithic monuments. Thretevy Quoit is one of them. “The giant’s house” is its nickname. Not that strange, because this dolmen is almost three meters high. The 10-ton cover stone alone is 3.7 meters long. Long ago, during construction, the structure was much bigger. With all (smaller) stones still on it, it reached a diameter of 6.5 meters. But that was before the cattle came to graze and farmers reused the stones for walls on their land. Therefore, in 2017 Historic England has put it on the list of heritage at risk.
Silver moon, purple landscape
“Silver moon, purple landscape” is a series of three paintings. The individual works form a unity in subject, color and style, but differ in details: The dolmens depicted are originally in three different countries and the moon is always somewhere else. I’ve painted these images with acrylic paint on wallpaper, 24 x 32 cm.
