This is the first painting in a series about natural resources. This choice of subject comes directly from my concern about the destructive way humanity exploits this planet. I think over fishing is a shocking example of this. It is my firm belief that towed nets and explosives should not appear in vulnerable ecosystems. I like fish and shellfish myself, as long as they have been taken out of their natural environment in a conscious way and there has been an eye for the healthy survival of the population. I gladly pay a little more for that. After all, the earth is not here to exhaust, but to care for and pass on as nicely as possible to subsequent generations of life forms that populate this beautiful planet.

I consciously used a direct, slightly abstract style for this subject. This enabled me to transfer the message faster and more directly. In addition, this somewhat primitive style lays a link to our distant past when people lived more in harmony with nature. I immediately acknowledge that I owe Joan Miró and Paul Klee in the visual language.

I made this painting using acrylic paint on canvas board that measures 25 x 25 centimeters.
