The Dolmen of Kermarquer
The dolmen of Kermarquer lies hidden behind woods and groves in the municipality of La Trinité-sur-Mer in France. Therefore, it is not easy to find it. This dolmen has a corridor and two rooms. The larger one has no capstone. If you look closely you will see many different colors in the stones and in the vegetation. If you look even closer, you might see little fairies busy with incomprehensible games. Or are they perhaps working seriously on important issues that go beyond our comprehension? Possibly these fairies made all those beautiful colors.
For this artwork I first made a base layer with watercolor pencils. I then drew the contours of the dolmen with fineliner. Finally, I fantasized about a scene. The first thing I thought of was a fairy. I drew one. It looked a bit lonely and that’s why I drew antoher one. Before I knew it, I had put a lot of them on paper. The entire process was intuitive. Water color pencils and fineliner pen on paper, 23 x 31 centimeters.
